Jan 11, 2019 - New Line is bringing back horror franchise 'Final Destination' and has. Melton and Dunstan are horror vets best known for penning four of.
Final Destination aka Final Destination 6 is a 2019 American supernatural horror feature film re-imagining of the franchise that began in 2000 with the first James Wong-directed Final Destination movie starring Devon Sawa.
In the movie and its sequels, a group of people are saved from death thanks to a premonition, only for fate and the Grim Reaper to catch up with them eventually prompting a chain of elaborate demises.
A screenplay for the New Line Cinema reimagining is being written by genre specialists Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark; The Collection; Piranha 3DD; Saw 3D; et al). The busy pair are also developing an untitled Christmas horror project for Platinum Dunes/Sony, plus Paramount movie The Reckoning.
Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick tweeted: “I couldn’t be more thrilled @MarcusDunstan and @PatrickWMelton are penning the script. They’re great guys and writers. My baby is in amazing hands. :)”

After a few lackluster sequels, 2011’s Final Destination 5 quite impressed me, wrapping up the entire franchise and ending it all on the perfect note. But we all know we haven’t seen the last of the creative kills and a sixth installment in the franchise is imminent.
Though we’ve heard no official word about Final Destination 6, the franchise’s producer, Craig Perry, is apparently very much interested in yet another sequel, and he’s got a pretty cool idea for the film that could potentially breathe some new life into the series.
Though we’ve heard no official word about Final Destination 6, the franchise’s producer, Craig Perry, is apparently very much interested in yet another sequel, and he’s got a pretty cool idea for the film that could potentially breathe some new life into the series.
His idea? Final Destination 6: The Dark Age, wherein he wants to take the formula set forth in the first five films and send it all the way back to the 12th century. In order to show off exactly what he’s got in mind, Perry enlisted the help of editor Alexander McNeill, who mashed together clips from 20 different movies and TV shows to form a concept trailer that brings the idea to life.
Fortunately for us, McNeill just uploaded the trailer to his YouTube channel, and you can check it out below. In McNeill’s own words, “Here’s a look at what a next Final Destination might look like…”
